Primary DC VPNC Software - Phased Update May 2, 2024 03:00-06:00 CDT
In efforts to address an observed issue with VPN Concentrator server node redundancy, data center teams are performing phased updates of the VPNC nodes at the Primary and Secondary DCs. Phase 1 involves the update of the backup VPNC at the Primary DC and its subsequent movement into production. This effort will be closely monitored by engineering teams with backout plan ready if necessary.

During this change there will be a reconnection event to any active VPNs in DC1. When the failover happens, we would expect VPNs to reconverge automatically without issue, however any customers with monitoring in place would likely see the reconnection event. The actual failover event is predicted to be less than 1 minute during this window.

The rollout plan includes a several day monitoring period before committing to upgrading remaining VPNCs.

Monitoring - Primary DC IPsec peer components restarted after affected traffic migrated to Secondary DC. Traffic restored for all customers through steady state.

Investigating - We have received customer reports of failed IPsec VPN establishment to Primary DC. Connections through Secondary DC are successful for customers with functional resiliency. We are investigating the cause of this issue.
